An Invitation…
We’ve partnered with the wonderful Terri Laura from Shetland to put together a truly unique knitting experience in Easter 2027. We’d love you to join us!
Come and immerse yourself in some of the most inspirational landscapes of Scotland, and have your knitting skills and creativity nurtured by one of Shetland’s finest artisans. The Shetland knitting tradition is strong is Terri’s family; she’s been working with yarn since childhood and raised in the local ways.
Every now and then you come across a knitwear designer that just… gets it. Terri is one of them. Her talent for colour is unsurpassed.
You’ll have a choice of several accessories to knit during the four days retreat. Terri will guide you through her process and how she puts together a colourway. We’ll use our in-house knitting machines here at Noost to swatch your own colour selection before Terri guides you through knitting your pattern of choice.
This isn’t a classroom based learning experience. We’ll use our beautiful Noost workshop as a base, but will get out and about to experience some lovely spots around Ullapool and the local area too.
We've also booked some of the most comfortable, welcoming accommodation in the area at the Ceilidh Place. It's perfectly situated in the heart of Ullapool, does amazing food (though we'll eat out some nights too), and has the most beautiful common areas!
This is your invitation to slow down, relax, and enjoy people, place and tradition while you make something beautiful.

From Terri:
Spend 4 days designing and knitting in the Highlands of Scotland. While you’re with us, you’ll have the chance to take in the local surroundings and gather inspiration for your new Fair Isle design, which you’ll then develop into your own collection of accessories. Your design will form a full set of accessories — a hat, cowl and pair of gloves. Cast on whichever project you choose and begin knitting your new design. The atmosphere at Noost is something special: a working knitwear factory and shop, with a designer on-hand throughout. Using the resources at Noost, we’ll be able to explore swatching and test ideas efficiently, giving you a unique opportunity to develop your vision with an experienced team behind you.

Questions… and Answers
When is the workshop?
We all get together at the Ceilidh Place on the 29th March. No rush, take the day to travel, but hopefully we can all be in Ullapool in time for a wee meal together to break the ice!
We'll be designing and knitting our Fair Isle pieces with Terri Laura from the 30th March to the 2nd April. We will be checking out the accommodation on the morning of the 3rd.
Is accommodation included / What's it like?
Yes! We've been really fortunate to be able to book the Ceilidh Place for this retreat. It's a pretty special spot; really cosy and welcoming, and it does the most amazing food!
It's also perfectly situated in Ullapool. It's just a couple hundred metres from Noost in one direction, and about the same from the beach in another.
There are a few options - you can book a single room, a double room for two, a double room with single occupancy, or opt to share a twin room. That can be two friends coming together, or it’s a cost-effective way of sharing with someone you’ll meet during the workshop. All rooms are en-suite.
That all sounds like a lot of options, and if you need a hand figuring it out, get in touch and we'll help you find something that suits you.
Are meals included?
They are! We want you to sit back, relax and just concentrate on knitting and enjoying your unique surroundings.
Breakfast is served at your accommodation each day, and we’ll visit a variety of local cafes and restuarants for lunch and dinner through the stay. If the weather cooperates, we might arrange a nice pic-nic for a day out, catered by the amazing little cafe across from Noost!
What do we knit?
Terri will provide patterns for a hat, cowl, and a pair of gloves. If you’re fast, you might knit more than one!
Whatever you choose to knit while you're here, you’ll go home with the pattern for all three.
Do you provide yarn?
Yes, we’ve a great selection of Jamieson’s yarn here at Noost, and you’ll be able to pick your colourways from our stock.
You are, of course, welcome to bring your own if you'd prefer.
How many people are coming?
There is space for up to 9 guests on the workshop.
Is there a minimum no of people?
Yes, we need a minimum of 5 people.
If we don’t manage to book 5 spots by 2 months in advance of the date, we’ll refund deposits and get in touch to see if you’d like to keep your accommodation booking to come up anyway (at cost price).
My partner doesn’t knit, can they come along too?
Absolutely!
They’re welcome to join us for meals (though we might be elsewhere for some lunches!), and can come along when we’re out exploring the area if they'd like to.
There’s loads to explore. We can provide walking and photography guidebooks and recommendations. There's also a 9 hole golf course in the village, and the fishing in the area is amazing.
Honestly, there is too much to do locally to describe here, but we can point them in the right direction for anything else they might be interested in!
How do we book?
Select the accommodation option to suit your preference, and hit the button!
There's a £100 per person booking fee. We'll be in touch to get some more information about you and your knitting experience shortly after you book. Then we'll invoice you for the balance once we have 5 confirmed guests.
I’ve another question…
Drop us a line at hello@noostknit.co.uk and we’ll get back to you with an answer!
